Meet the Family Behind

We are Kaitlyn and Shaena, sister-in-laws brought together by our shared love for family, animals, and the incredible Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Our journey into breeding began with a very special Corgi named Finn. His playful personality, loyalty, and ability to bring joy into every room captured our hearts and inspired us to share that same love with others. Although Finn has since crossed the rainbow bridge, his memory continues to be a part of everything we do and the foundation of our program.

At Kern River Corgis, we believe that breeding is about so much more than producing puppies. It is about preserving the qualities we love in this incredible breed while raising each puppy with the same love, care, and dedication we would want for our own family members. We believe every dog deserves a life filled with companionship, respect, and commitment, and that belief guides every decision we make.

While we are both busy raising our beautiful families, our dogs are an important part of our everyday lives. Our program is built around the idea that puppies thrive when they are raised in a loving, enriching environment surrounded by people who care deeply about their development. From the very beginning, we focus on giving our puppies the best possible foundation through age-appropriate socialization and early development practices.

We incorporate techniques such as Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI), along with exposure to new environments, sounds, surfaces, and experiences as our puppies grow. We begin introducing important life skills such as potty training, crate training, and confidence-building exercises to help each puppy transition into their new home prepared for success. Our goal is not only to raise beautiful puppies, but to raise happy, confident companions with wonderful temperaments.

Between our two families, we have six human children and many Corgi children who keep our days full of laughter, learning, and adventure. One of the greatest joys of our program has been watching our children grow to appreciate the responsibility and compassion that comes with caring for animals. Through our dogs, they are learning the importance of patience, kindness, respect, and proper animal husbandry.

Our Corgis have also brought our extended family and friends closer together. Many trusted loved ones have shared our passion and wanted to become part of our Corgi family. Through this, we created our guardian home program, allowing us to continue growing our program while ensuring our dogs remain beloved family companions first and foremost. Our guardian families provide loving homes where our dogs can live happy, fulfilling lives while still being a part of our breeding program.

We know that bringing a puppy into your family is a big commitment, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our relationship with our families does not end when a puppy goes home. We strive to provide honesty, communication, and lifelong support because every puppy we raise will always hold a special place in our hearts.
